Prima Assicurazioni will again play a leading role as sponsor in the new edition of the 2023 European Championship (FIA ERC), alongside the young 1994-class driver, Rachele Somaschini.

Continuing an agreement dating from 2021 and renewed in the 2022 sporting season, the insurtech company that has revolutionised the world of car, motorbike and van insurance and entered the home, family and accident insurance segment, will provide its livery for Rachele’s Citroën C3 Rally 2, prepared and managed by FPF Sport, in six out of eight rounds of the continental series.

The difficulties caused by the pandemic from 2020 to 2022, have limited the participation of this driver from Milan to a few events of the continental series, but those did serve for her to get acquainted with a very complex and challenging field of competition. But this year Rachele is ready to put herself on the line, in a season that is still to be built, with a wide-ranging programme: the first appointment with the European stage is scheduled for Friday, 10 March, on the starting grid of the Rally Serras de Fafe, which will take place over 17 timed stretches in the northern region of Portugal, for a total of 180.29 km of special stages, and will end on Sunday, 12 March, with a prize-giving ceremony back in the Portuguese town of Fafe,.

Also continuing this year, stronger than ever, is Rachele’s commitment to support research against cystic fibrosis, a little-known genetic disease from which she herself suffers. Since 2016, the year the #CorrerePerUnRespiro project was launched, the driver has endorsed the Fondazione Ricerca Fibrosi Cistica – Onlus (Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation, a non-profit entity), turning her passion for cars into a tool for creating an important charity network.

We are happy to continue racing alongside Rachele Somaschini, a driver who has been able to pursue a passion and do it for charity, with great character and dedication. These qualities are the same that have led Prima Assicurazioni to back her this season and in the last two. We see in her the same commitment and perseverance which we, as an insurtech company that has innovated the insurance sector with technology, face in the challenges posed by the market every day, said Anna Sanfilippo, Prima Assicurazioni’s Chief Marketing Officer. This is why Prima has chosen to continue supporting Rachele and her commitment to contribute to cystic fibrosis research

To have been able to put together a continuing programme in such an important series”, commented Rachele Somaschini,is really a big dream come true. Behind this result is a lot of work, which began in 2019 and was then held back by the difficult situation we were all in. So I’m full of enthusiasm and a strong will to do well, even though I am aware of the very high level of the opponents I will be facing”.

“So far I have only acquired a partial knowledge of a few European Championship races”, continued Rachele,so I’m going to gain a lot of experience during this season, but as always I will give my best and try to satisfy those who have offered me support and trust.

Moreover, this commitment”, the driver stressed, “is combined with this extraordinary opportunity to promote my project #CorrerePerUnRespiro, dedicated to raising awareness and fundraising for cystic fibrosis research, in an international context, which was always a great goal for me”.
