We're looking for capable and motivated professionals for our Pricing and Underwriting team as Assistant Motor Underwriter.
The Underwriting team is a core part of our business, dedicated to using modern technology to streamline underwriting processes, enhance the customer experience, and drive our overall growth. Specifically, we are looking for an insurance professional who brings a comprehensive understanding of the UK motor insurance market. We want someone who is eager, driven and willing to learn/develop an underwriting skillset, who can communicate effectively and who can foster good working relationships with stakeholders and colleagues. Specifically, you will be responsible for these activities:
1. Underwriting Support: Serve as the go-to expert for day-to-day underwriting queries and referrals from Customer Care and Claims Teams, making decisions that align with our underwriting philosophy and acceptance criteria.
2. Process optimisation: Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Customer Care and Claims Teams to streamline the claims referral process and drive efficiency.
3. Risk Management & Auditing: Conduct underwriting audits and monitor referrals, ensuring robust risk control measures and strict adherence to our underwriting standards.
4. Compliance Coordination: Liaise with the Compliance Team and Capacity Provider to secure necessary approvals for underwriting decisions, ensuring full compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
5. Complaint Resolution: Investigate and resolve complaints related to underwriting issues, delivering effective solutions and fostering positive customer experiences.
6. Definition of Underwriting criteria: Contribute to underwriting projects and initiatives led by the Senior Underwriter, playing a key role in continuous improvement and innovation.
What we are looking for:
- A highly motivated and driven individual who possesses strong communication and rapport building skills that is seeking a career within underwriting.
- At least one year of professional experience in the insurance business, with exposure to motor insurance being a plus.
- An "and why not" attitude, proactivity, critical thinking, excited to be on the frontline in a dynamic, fast-growing company.
- Eager to collaborate with experienced colleagues from diverse backgrounds, including Pricing Data Scientists and Software Engineers, to broaden expertise, accelerate professional growth and take on greater responsibilities within the underwriting function.
It would be fantastic if:
- You have experience working in a motor underwriting function. However, this is not a prerequisite as training by experienced/Senior Underwriters will be provided.
- You have obtained CII qualifications.
